Tesla's Cybercab employee rides begin as NHTSA signals steering wheel rule change

Tesla confirmed that Cybercab vehicles without manual controls are now giving rides to employees in Texas, marking a significant milestone for the autonomous vehicle program. The company initially released a video showing employees using phones to control climate and entertainment features, then re-posted it with reduced content. Tesla has already self-certified for SAE Level 4 autonomy in Texas and plans to launch Cybercab rides to the public later this year or early 2027.
